Beyonce Explains Grammy Performance!

The battle of Precious Lord wages on. Neo-Soul artist Ledisi performed the song in the film Selma while portraying gospel queen Mahalia Jackson. However, Beyonce was asked to perform it during the Grammy festivities.

There have been extremely long threads on social media saying why would Beyonce chose to perform a song that Ledisi brought back to life?

I think that Beyonce performed the record because they asked and she likes to be seen. This is a business after all and the more people see Beyonce despite where she is in her career means more money. Ledisi gave a comment to Entertainment Tonight about the performance. This is what she said.

Although this was an awesome political answer I know Ledisi was calling Beyonce all kinds of bitches in her mind. Ledisi has tried to make it out here for a while. That performance could have introduced her to a whole new audience. Even though Ledisi said it was a honor to be apart of the rich history of the record I know she knew what she deserved. Beyonce came out with a video a two days later saying her performance was for her estranged father.

How she wanted Black men who had stories to stand and sing with her to express their pain. The performance was supposed to be for the social injustice that African-American men face today. Well that’s a nice spin on it. I am sure people will believe that was her only reason to perform that song in front of millions of people.

Even the beyhive knows better. I would respect her answer a lot more if it was the truth. Just say I sang because I was asked. Don’t use racism, social injustice, and the emotional drain it is to be African-American on a daily basis due to ignorance to make yourself feel better about taking the opportunity. Did I forget to mention she didn’t even acknowledge Ledisi once in this video? SMH. Keep it a 100 B.
