KATT WILLIAMS WALKS AWAY WITH COMMUNITY SERVICE AFTER POLICE CHASE?

Comedian Katt Williams has been sentenced to community service after pleading no contest to a charge of reckless evasion of a police officer following his 2012 three-wheel motorcycle chase in Sacramento, California.

The 41-year-old, whose real name is Micah Sierra Williams, was originally charged with a felony. His charge was reduced to a misdemeanor after he made his plea on April 25, court records show.

He was initially given a 180-day jail sentence, but the court ruled that he would instead serve 90 days of community service and that the other 90 would be stayed, which means he would not have to serve time if he completes his duties and obeys the law. Williams was also put on unsupervised probation for three years. His next court date is on June 14.

Police say that on Nov. 25, 2012, Williams drove a Can-Am Spyder, a three-wheel motorcycle, on a sidewalk in Sacramento later nearly hit five pedestrians. They say he ignored authorities’ calls to stop and led them on a chase in the city. He later failed to show up for his arraignment.

The Sacramento Bee reported that in March, Williams told reporters the chase case was a “misunderstanding,” and that failing to appear in court was a mistake.

Williams has been dealing with other legal problems over the past few months. In December, he was arrested in Seattle following an alleged altercation at a bar and was also accused of assaulting a Target employee. He said at a comedy show in Los Angeles that he was not the aggressor.

Williams is also an actor and has appeared in films such as “Friday After Next” and recently, “Scary Movie 5.” (Check out PHOTOS from the recent Los Angeles premiere, which was also attended by actors Charlie Sheen and Lindsay Lohan.)
