T-Pain: Aaliyah’s Tragic Death Created Her Legacy!

T-Pain recently made some very unflattering comments about the late Aaliyah.

During an interview T-Pain said this about the Rock The Boat singer:

People tend to–I don’t know man– I’m not trying to discredit Aaliyah in any kind of way. But you know how sometimes when people die–yeah. You know how somebody’s an a**hole their whole life, but when you go to their funeral it’s like ‘This guy was the greatest man that ever walked…’ No, I’m just sayin’!

No, I’m not saying Aaliyah. But it’s like because she passed, nobody is deserving of being next to her. Nobody’s good enough. Nobody is good enough because she passed. If she was still alive, then everybody would’ve been like, ‘Oh! She’s tryna be Beyoncé!’ If she were still alive right now. But now that she’s passed, it’s like ‘Nobody could be her! Nobody could be her!’ That’s just how I feel.

My Thoughts:

I think T-Pain needs be quiet. Aaliyah was a major star before her tragic death in 2001. So he’s thoughts on her legacy were not needed. I strongly doubt that anyone would have said that Aaliyah would tried to be Beyoncé’ even if she’d lived.

These ladies are two very different artist. Aaliyah was an artist who a lot of young girls looked up to including myself. Whose to say that one of those young girls wasn’t Beyoncé’. Aaliyah was a trendsetter and an icon in her own right.

Her stamp in music is still being copied today. So he was right to say no one could ever be her because she was truly One in A Million. Was this statement for attention T-Pain?
