John Legend Set to Make New “Down Lo” Series! Sounds Zesty!

Singer-songwriter John Legend is set to produce a show called “Down Lo”. We remember the “Down Low” documentary that was an expose’ on men. The documentary interviewed men who were bi-sexual in marriages and relationships with other women without their knowledge. The piece uncovered a whole new community of men who were then referred to as a “Down Low Brothers”.

Legend has his own film company called Get Lifted Film Co. The film focused on whether or not gay performers can prevail in Hip-Hop. The scene is set in South Beach, FL. The show will feature a clandestine rapper trying to succeed in the Hip Hop community. It is rumored that the series is supposed to be focused on one of John Legend’s friends.

This topic of whether gay and hip hop go together was made hot by rapper Snoop Lion. Snoop stated that Hip Hop and Gay don’t mix. He was referring to openly gay artist Frank Ocean. Ocean isn’t really a rapper. I personally don’t think his music is in the same arena as hip hop. He makes more trippy neo-soul r&b music. I don’t think they have created a category for artist like him and The Weeknd.

I am sure that the blogs will have a field day with this because they have been saying allegedly John Legend himself was gay for years. They were breaking down his music lyrics saying that he was addressing another man. I don’t know if he is gay or not but he does in my opinion have some zesty qualities. As for my personal opinion about gay and hip hop. I think it shouldn’t matter who you are sleeping with to make great music. Frankly it is no one’s business anyway.
